Here is my opinion about Dangote's shares
Dangote's shares are over hyped. I'm seeing it everywhere. Shares has been there since but nobody heard of it or did it, it's not even popular
Now, Dangote's company went public everyone is rushing to invest because they want to associate with Dangote.
One of my parents told me to do transfer the other day through First bank. I open the app and behold, Dangote's share is at the top. They said I can invest in it right inside the app. Oh, wow. Just like that? They make it so smooth and seamless. I don't need to learn how to buy stocks or deposit in stock apps, just inside first bank app. This has never happened before
Did Dangote run ads on First bank so that people can invest from there?
Since Dangote's company went public I've not heard something. But stocks has been there since ooo.
And for investing in stocks in general, wether Dangote's company or anyone, it is a long term investment. Don't hope it will make you rich, relying on it is a gamble.
In America there is what people do. They have a job then each month they use a percentage of their salary to invest in stocks and hope that it will appreciate. They can wait for up to 10 years or more. That's very dangerous
An author once said that the stock market is used to preserve wealth, not create it . If you have a huge amount of money, the dividends will pay you very well and if it appreciates, it will make you more wealthy. But if you're not putting a large amount of money, you're only hoping it will appreciate or increase in value which is dangerous.
So, let's talk about Dangote. Why did he make his company public? What is his aim? Has he made any of his companies public before? Does he have good intentions for us? Or is he using the shares we bought in his favour?
Well, Dangote is a good man. When we had fuel trouble 2 years ago, his company bailed us out and even last year, idk. So maybe he has good plans for us
So finally to wrap this up, if someone is not earning good income, relying on stocks alone is very dangerous. The stock market is unpredictable. Nobody knows if the value will rise tomorrow, next week or in the next 10 years.
Most people who invested in stocks only got profits decades later. Stocks is really slow. Idk if it's even slower than real estate. Which is faster?
For me, if I invest in stocks I'll not rely on stocks, it's a long term plan. I'll just buy and forget it. I won't even be checking it, I'll go and work on other stuff to make money
Buying stocks is like placing a bet on myself. Ok, I want to make a large amount of money. If I invest in stocks now and work on something else, in 10 years or the next few years, let me see which one will pay me a large amount of money
And finally, so na for only first bank Dangote IPO de abi? I don't know for other banks. I can't access my first bank app. I open Opay to check for Dangote share I no see, ehn??? So Opay is too small abi? Dangote has made a huge mistake. Does he know how many people are using Opay and other mobile banks? He just lost and investor or other potential investors. If Opay had it, I could've invested too. So Opay is too small abi? No worry ๐ค
Also, people that have Palmpay or other mobile banks, have you seen the shares?
