An American investigator tracking cybercrime syndicates in Nigeria has revealed details regarding the integration of ritual practices—locally referred to as “***** Plus”—by internet fraudsters operating in Lagos.

In an account documenting her field investigation in the commercial capital, the visitor detailed navigating high-risk environments and refuse dumps to locate hidden shrines where fraudsters obtain spiritual charms intended to manipulate victims overseas.

“On our trip to track down scammers in Lagos, Nigeria, we uncovered something shocking. We found out that ‘***** Plus’ is a real thing and that some ***** Boys perform rituals and obtain charms to help them manipulate their victims. We even had to search through heaps of dirt and refuse to find the hideout where these charms were made.”

The investigation confirmed that beyond conventional phishing and social engineering, there is a reliance on occult shrines, herbalists, and ritualists who prepare specialized charms designed to psychologically subdue targets. The fraud operators utilize these charms alongside online manipulation tactics to fleece foreign victims, relying on belief in spiritual influence to guarantee successful financial extraction.

Popular Nigerian TikTok banker known for her “ogba” content has revealed that she was asked to resign from her job with immediate effect after repeatedly posting content filmed around her workplace.

According to the TikTok creator, she had been making content since 2018 and previously faced disciplinary action in 2022 after posting a video about her salary increment.

She said the issue resurfaced in 2026 after she filmed a vlog showing parts of her day at the office. She was reportedly warned that showing the bank’s premises was against company policy, prompting her to take down the video.

She explained that she was later issued another query over the alleged inappropriate exposure of sensitive areas of the bank and was invited before the disciplinary committee.

The content creator said she apologised and stopped filming at the office, choosing to limit her content to her home.

However, she claimed that last Thursday, after closing for the day, she was informed by her supervisor that she had been asked to resign with immediate effect.

She said she immediately wrote her resignation letter, submitted her ID card and left the workplace, adding that some of her colleagues cried and prayed with her before she left.

Despite losing her job, the TikToker said she has no plans to stop creating content and asked her followers to help refer her to potential employers as she begins her search for a new job.

President Bola Tinubu has asked state governors to “stop building flyovers where there is no numeric traffic” and do more to improve the quality of life of citizens.

The President made the call while receiving traditional rulers from Oyo state led by Oba Rashidi Ladoja, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, at the State House,Abuja on Thursday, July 30.

Speaking directly to Oba Ladoja, President Tinubu said the financial allocations of states had increased more than four times compared to when the monarch and himself served as state governors.

Tinubu was governor of Lagos from 1999 to 2007, while Ladoja served as governor of Oyo from 2003 to 2007.

The president said owing to the increased financial allocations, governors are no longer borrowing money to pay salaries.

A Nigerian lady has reacted after her ex-boyfriend reportedly logged her out of his Netflix and Amazon Prime accounts.

In a video, the lady said she had been making videos describing her ex as “weird” and saying that she regretted dating him, but questioned why he would go as far as removing her access to his streaming accounts.

She described his action as petty, joking that she no longer had Netflix and wondering what she would do without access to the account.

A TikTok user has shared an unverified story about a Nigerian man who allegedly lost his job in the Netherlands after taking his colleagues to his wedding in Nigeria and inadvertently revealing that he owned the hotel where they stayed.

According to the TikTok user, the man, who works in the Netherlands, travelled to Nigeria for his wedding and invited some of his colleagues to attend. They were reportedly lodged at a hotel which they later discovered was owned by the man.

The TikTok user claimed that after the colleagues returned to the Netherlands, the information allegedly reached the man's employer, who reportedly questioned how his salary could support ownership of such a hotel.

He claimed the man was subsequently fired, allegedly over concerns that his assets and income did not match and that he had failed to declare certain assets or additional sources of income.

However, the TikTok user repeatedly stressed that the story had not been independently verified, although he said his research suggested that there could be circumstances under Dutch employment and financial regulations where undeclared assets, unexplained wealth or undisclosed income could raise concerns.

He has now asked people living and working in the Netherlands to share whether they have experienced a similar situation, particularly involving properties, inheritances or businesses owned in African countries.
