Police officers reportedly escorted a Black three-year-old soccer player and his family off a field in Winter Park, Florida, after parents of opposing players complained that their children could not get the ball away from him.

The toddler, identified as Nevada, was playing in an i9 Sports youth soccer league against children aged five when the incident occurred.

According to his family, the league removed him from the programme because he repeatedly dominated games, prompting complaints from parents who felt the matches were unfair.

The family shared the incident on TikTok through their account, Nevadaney10, claiming the league issued them a trespass notice before police escorted them away from the field in front of other children.

“They really called the police on a 3-year-old because he had the ball too much,” Nevada’s father said in the video.

Some opposing parents reportedly accused the toddler of trying to “put on a show”, while his mother defended him, saying he was simply playing soccer.

“Those grown-ups huddled up talking about my son… but he ain’t doing nothing but playing soccer,” she said.

A referee was attacked during the return leg of the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League promotion/relegation play-off fixture between Kariobangi Sharks and Mombasa United on Tuesday, October 6.

The match, whose winner was to earn a ticket to participate in the FKF Premier League this season, was called off in the 66th minute after United were awarded a contentious penalty by referee John Sulwe at Ulinzi Complex Stadium.

After a United player went down following a challenge inside the penalty box, the referee pointed to the spot.

However, the referee's decision was immediately contested by Sharks players.

The players confronted referee Sulwe, triggering a chaotic reaction from the home fans, who stormed the pitch and chased the official around the field. Sulwe was reportedly assaulted before security personnel intervened and escorted him to safety.

At the time the match was abandoned, Sharks were leading 2-1. United had won the first leg 2-1 at Mbaraki Sports Club in Mombasa.

No fewer than 37 suspected oil thieves have been confirmed de@d after they inhaled a petroleum product believed to be crude oil in Okrika Local Government Area of Rivers State in the early hours of Thursday, September 3.

According to reports, more than 100 persons, mostly youths, from Okrika and neighboring communities had stormed Okari jetty to tap petroleum products from a pipeline that transports petroleum products from Indorama Eleme Petrochemical facility to the Port Harcourt Refinery to vessels that regularly came to load products for exports.

Eyewitnesses say while they were busy loading the products into the boats they came with, a strong smell enveloped the area, causing several of the youths to collapse.It is said that while some of the victims collapsed into the river, others who escaped have been taken to the hospital, where they are battling serious respiratory ailments.

Confirming the incident to newsmen, the spokesperson of the Rivers state police command, SP Blessing Agabe, said an investigation has been launched into the unfortunate incident.

‘’The suspects reportedly died in the process of attempting to steal crude oil. However, no official complaint has been received in connection with the incident at this time. Investigation is ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and ascertain the facts.’’

A major controversy has hit the Senegalese football community following the national team’s World Cup exit, with Senegal Football Federation (FSF) president Abdoulaye Fall revealing that the squad’s chief medical officer was primarily trained as a gynaecologist.

According to Fall, the late discovery of this training left players deeply concerned about the quality of sports medicine available to them, forcing the federation to hastily secure external medical consultants to restore confidence.

South Africa’s Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture, Gayton McKenzie, announced his passing in a statement.

“It is with profound shock and a heavy heart that I have learnt of the passing of Jayden Adams.

Police in South Africa said they had opened an investigation after the body of a 25-year-old man was found at a house in Schotschekloof, a suburb in central Cape Town, on Saturday morning.

“The cause of Jayden’s passing has not yet been confirmed, and I wish to appeal to members of the media and the public to exercise restraint and compassion, and to refrain from speculation, while his family and Mamelodi Sundowns are given the space and privacy they need at this incredibly difficult time.

Just six months after the inauguration of the Board of Trustees (BoT) for the University of Benin Trust Development Fund (UNIBENTDF), they have began delivering palpably on their mandate. Their first task of officially launching its ambitious yet timely ₦100 billion target has been actualised as part of the UNIBENTDF's BoT marking a significant milestone in the institution's drive towards financial sustainability and global competitiveness.

This landmark, first of its kind fundraising ceremony took place on Saturday, July 4, 2026, at the Akin Deko Auditorium, Ugbowo Main Campus of UNIBEN in Benin City. The event attracted an impressive gathering of government officials, captains of industry, distinguished alumni, traditional rulers, development partners, corporate organisations, members of the university community, staff, students and friends of the institution, all united in support of the university's vision for sustainable development.

Chairing the occasion was His Excellency, Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN, CON, former Governor of Lagos State, former two-time Minister of Works, and a distinguished alumnus of the University of Benin. In his keynote remarks, Fashola who stated how everyone that passes through the institution has a unique experience and with each their "UNIBEN Story", described the initiative as a defining moment in the history of the university, stressing that alumni have a responsibility to preserve and strengthen the institution that shaped their lives. He encouraged graduates of the university across the world to invest in the future of their alma mater, noting that sustainable universities are built through the collective commitment of their alumni and other stakeholders.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Edoba Bright Omoregie, SAN, said the UNIBENTDF represents a bold response to the financial realities facing public universities in Nigeria. According to him, government subventions alone can no longer meet the growing demands of quality teaching, research, innovation and infrastructure development. He explained that the university established the fund, which was a first of its kind in Nigeria to create a permanent source of support for strategic projects that will benefit future generations.

Professor Omoregie disclosed that the university has over 350,000 alumni worldwide and expressed confidence that broad participation from alumni, corporate organisations and development partners would make the ₦100 billion target achievable. He noted that if 250,000 alumni each contribute ₦100,000, the university would realise ₦25 billion towards the target.

Chairman of the UNIBENTDF BoT, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu Esq, described the initiative as more than a fundraising exercise. According to him, it is a declaration of confidence in the future of the University of Benin and a commitment to building an institution that will compete with the best universities in the world. He assured donors that the fund would be managed with transparency, accountability and integrity while delivering projects that will have lasting impact on the university community.

The Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, CON, represented by Prof. Joe Ahaneku former Vice-Chancellor of the National University of Science and Technology, Abuja at the event, commended the University of Benin for embracing an innovative funding model that aligns with the Federal Government's vision for sustainable financing of tertiary education. He urged alumni, philanthropists, private organisations and development partners to support the initiative, describing every contribution as an investment in the future of Nigeria.
