Catholic priest reportedly k!lled in Kogi


A Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Samuel Opeyemi Oyetoro, has been reportedly k!lled by unknown assailants in Ajaokuta, Kogi State.


According to reports, the priest was st@bbed multiple times along Ajaokuta road on Wednesday, 29th July 2026.


His body was found dumped at the roadside.


Rev. Fr. Oyetoro was born in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State and a native of Ayetoro in Ijumu Local Government Area.


Until his d3ath, he served as a priest at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Egbe.


The full circumstances surrounding the incident are still unclear, and authorities are yet to issue a comprehensive official statement.


The Catholic Diocese of Lokoja confirmed the d3ath of the priest in a statement and requested all religious and Laity to pray for the peaceful repose of his soul.”


“We kindly request all priests, religious and Laity to pray for the peaceful repose of his soul during their Holy Masses and personal prayers and to pray for strength and consolation for his aged parents, siblings, parishioners and their entire Diocese of Lokoja during this time of grief,” the statement read.
