School security guard sentenced to one year imprisonment for s3xually abusing 10-year-old pupil in AbiaA 30-year-old school security guard attached to Radiant Glory Academy, Umuichichi, Aba, Abia State, Chidiebere Kalu has been sentenced to one year imprisonment for s3xually abusing a 10-year-old female pupil. The judgment was delivered on August 5, 2026 by the Family Court sitting at the Magistrate Court, Aba. The case arose from reported incidents involving the child within the school environment and was pursued through the criminal justice system following a report by the child’s family. The court convicted Kalu on two counts of indecent assault and instilling fear in a minor. He was sentenced to one year imprisonment without the option of a fine on the first count, and one year imprisonment with an option of a N200,000 fine on the second count, with both sentences ordered to run concurrently. Reacting to the judgement, the Vivacious Development Initiative (VIDI), in collaboration with the Child Protection Network (CPN), Abia State Chapter, described the conviction as a major victory for child protection and justice.
