“Igbos only remembers Ebonyi when they need vote, fight them with your votes. We are not second class Igbos”- Umahi cautions Ebonyi people against voting for a certain former governorThe Minister of Works, David Umahi, has called on the people of Ebonyi State not to support the presidential ambition of a former Governor who is currently canvassing for their votes ahead of the 027 preidential election.While addressing people of the state, Umahi, in a video that has gone viral, asked the former governor to mention one person from the state he appointed while he was in office. He questioned Obi’s relationship with Ebonyi people, alleging that the former governor did not appoint any indigene of the state into his administration while serving as governor of Anambra State.“When you were a governor, give me one Ebonyi person that you gave an appointment. When they removed Abakaliki Street that had been there for over fifty years, you said nothing. It’s only when it comes to votes that they say we Ebonyi people are one with other states in the South East. But when it comes to insulting us, they insult us. We are not second-class citizens. We are proud Ebonyi people” Umahi stated.He urged residents of Ebonyi to use their votes to fight the seeming classism within Igbos.‘’Use your votes to fight. We will not go back to Egypt. We say no to secodn colonization. God has freed us. Wehave a state of our own. We are celebrating 30 years of freedom and nobody will take us back. What happened before was an accident of history. It will not repeat itself. Now you know better’’
