Lagos police launch investigation as jeweller accuses its officers of harassment

The Lagos State Police Command said it has commenced an investigation into a viral video of a jeweller accusing some policemen in the Festac area of the state of harassing him.

The command disclosed this in an X post on Saturday.

The video, which circulated on X on Saturday morning, shows the businessman engaged in a struggle with some policemen. Later in the video, the businessman could be seen with a bloody face after allegedly sustaining a cut beside his right eye during the struggle with the police officers,

The jeweller later explained that the policemen from the Festac Division had stopped him for a routine search. He said the officers accused him of peddling drugs after finding a scale on him.

“I went to deliver a necklace to someone when police officers stopped and searched me in Festac, Lagos. They found nothing on me but saw the scale I use to measure gold and accused me of using it to weigh weed.

They ordered me to follow them to the station, but I refused because I had done nothing wrong.

They were not properly dressed as police officers, and the bus they arrived in had no registration.

They then dragged me, tried to force me into the bus, and one of them hit me on the head with a gun before they started beating me.”

Reacting to the viral video, the state police command via its X handle, said it had launched an investigation and identified the policemen involved in the incident.

“The Lagos State Police Command has seen the video and has commenced an investigation into the incident. The officers involved have been identified as personnel attached to Area E Command.

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, has directed the Area Commander to immediately produce the officers at the Command Headquarters for further investigation and appropriate action.

The individual featured in the video is kindly urged to contact the Command’s Complaint Response Unit (CRU) on 09111111150 or 09111111151 to assist with the ongoing investigation.”

We found out that “***** plus” is a real thing and some ***** boys perform rituals and obtain charms - American Investigator who came to Nigeria on “*****” fact finding mission says

An American investigator tracking cybercrime syndicates in Nigeria has revealed details regarding the integration of ritual practices—locally referred to as “***** Plus”—by internet fraudsters operating in Lagos.

In an account documenting her field investigation in the commercial capital, the visitor detailed navigating high-risk environments and refuse dumps to locate hidden shrines where fraudsters obtain spiritual charms intended to manipulate victims overseas.

“On our trip to track down scammers in Lagos, Nigeria, we uncovered something shocking. We found out that ‘***** Plus’ is a real thing and that some ***** Boys perform rituals and obtain charms to help them manipulate their victims. We even had to search through heaps of dirt and refuse to find the hideout where these charms were made.”

The investigation confirmed that beyond conventional phishing and social engineering, there is a reliance on occult shrines, herbalists, and ritualists who prepare specialized charms designed to psychologically subdue targets. The fraud operators utilize these charms alongside online manipulation tactics to fleece foreign victims, relying on belief in spiritual influence to guarantee successful financial extraction.

“Lagos has become the big bad world” — Singer Ajebutter22 wishes he could return to Lagos 10 years ago

Nigerian singer Ajebutter22 has lamented the current state of Lagos, saying the city has become significantly worse compared to 10 years ago.

In a video shared online, the singer described Lagos as “the big bad world” and said he would rather return to the city as it was a decade ago.

According to him, things were already difficult in Lagos 10 years ago, but the situation has become even worse, with the cost of everyday things rising significantly. He recalled buying drinks for about โ‚ฆ5,000 in the past, saying they are now much more expensive.

Ajebutter22 also claimed that many people are leaving Lagos because of how difficult life has become, adding that, in his opinion, the people currently enjoying the city are scammers, those who made their money years ago, or people who have travelled or are planning to leave.
