Argentine footballer Mauro Icardi has broken his silence amid his bitter divorce battle with ex-wife Wanda Nara, issuing a strongly worded statement affter her”outrageous” demands were thrown out by the Italian courts.

The striker, 33, and Argentine model filed to end their marriage two years ago after Nara announced their split in September 2022.

Ever since then, the model has been fighting for Icardi to fork out huge sums of cash as part of the divorce settlement.

Now, the former Paris Saint-Germain and Galatasaray marksman, who is now a free agent, has revealed those requests have been thrown out.

In a bombshell statement released on Instagram Stories, Icardi said: “Over here, it’s all good news. There has been a new ruling.

“They demanded the following in the divorce proceedings – €250,000 per month for my ex, €65,000 for each of my daughters and €100,000 per month as part of the divorce settlement.

“On June 1, 2026, the judge REJECTED these outrageous claims. Unhappy with the decision and determined to keep taking my money, they appealed the ruling.

“On, July 27, 2026, the Italian courts made their decision crystal clear – the appeal was declared inadmissible.

“This effectively puts an end to all claims and demands. There is now only one final step left before the divorce judgement is finalised.

“It’s good to see that the Italian justice system works. Back in 2024, people called me crazy for insisting that everything should be handled in Italy.”

Icardi and Nara, 39, tied the knot in May 2014 after her divorce from his ex-Sampdoria team-mate Maxi Lopez had been finalised.

The Sokoto State Hisbah Board has announced a ban on a number of practices associated with weddings and other social gatherings in the state, arguing that the practices are contrary to Islamic teachings and societal morals.

Speaking to newsmen on Monday, July 27, the Commander of the Sokoto State Hisbah Board, Malam Usman Abdullahi Jatau, said the ban, which takes immediate effect, covers the practice popularly known as “Na Gani In So”, a marriage introduction custom in which a suitor presents assorted gift items such as cartons of soft drinks, bottled water, biscuits, sweets and kola nuts to the prospective bride’s family as well as DJ and Wazigidi music at ceremonies.

The board also prohibited the mounting of loudspeakers and excessive sound systems on tricycles (Keke Napep), women sitting beside tricycle riders, mixed-gender gatherings for entertainment, what it described as indecent hairstyles for children and youths, excessive spending on bridal gifts (lefe), and other practices it considers contrary to the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

Jatau said the measures were introduced to promote morality and preserve the state’s religious and cultural values.

“We declare that these innovations (bid’ah), which are contrary to the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW), have negative consequences for any marriage conducted in such a manner because it departs from the teachings of the Prophet,” he said.

Jatau called on parents, intending couples and members of both families to fear Allah and avoid practices prohibited by the board.

“We call on the families of both the bride and groom, as well as parents, to fear Allah and desist from these practices. The board will carry out its responsibilities whenever these prohibited practices are taking place, especially when we are called upon to intervene,” he said

Kristopher and Amanda Karolkiewicz and their six children, aged 5 to 15, d!ed on Friday, July 24, in their home in Grand Haven Township, on the eastern shore of Lake Michigan.

Authorities were summoned for a fire and then discovered the bodies.

The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department said in a release Monday that autopsies determined all the family members d!ed of gunshot wounds, and that Kristopher Karolkiewicz took his own life.

“This is an unspeakable tragedy that we may never completely understand,” Sheriff Eric DeBoer said in a statement read aloud at a news conference by one of his deputies, Capt. Jacob Sparks.

The fire appears to have been set intentionally in multiple parts of the home after the k!llings, but officials still are investigating the origin point, Sparks said.

It’s unclear exactly when the series of events began; officials got calls about a smoky smell in the area Monday morning, checked it out but found nothing.

After getting more calls about three hours later, they returned, saw smoke coming from the Karolkiewicz home and found the bodies, at least some of them in bedrooms, Sparks said.

The family’s dogs and at least one cat perished in the blaze.

Amanda Karolkiewicz, 39, an elementary school substitute teacher who went by Mandy, “was a kind and devoted soul who loved her family and her students,” her mother and stepfather, Becky and Steve Lawwill, said in a statement.

“We treasured every moment we had with her and her six children, and words cannot adequately address our devastation,” they wrote, adding that they “pray for God’s peace and comfort as we grieve their deaths and honor their lives.”

The couple later adopted two daughters and had another biological son.

A fugitive drug kingpin, Ntoruka Emmanuel Chinedu, and an ex-international football player, Hunkarin Segun George have been convicted and sentenced to a combined total of 24 years imprisonment by Justice Musa Kakaki of the Federal High Court, Lagos, for unlawful importation of 7.050 kilograms of cocaine into Nigeria.

Confirming their conviction to newsmen, NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, said Chinedu was first arraigned in September 2015 on a one-count charge marked FHC/L/227c/2015 for unlawfully importing 6.250 kilograms of cocaine.

‘’He pleaded not guilty and was admitted to bail, but jumped bail midway into trial and remained at large for nearly 10 years. He was eventually re-arrested by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on Tuesday 24th June 2025, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, while attempting to smuggle 800 grams of cocaine on an inbound Ethiopian Airlines flight from Addis Ababa. He was a frequent flyer known for conveying clothes from Turkey to Nigeria and foodstuffs from Nigeria to Turkey.

Investigation showed that the convict was coming from Turkey on Ethiopian Airlines flight but transited through Addis Ababa, Ethiopia where he collected the luggage from another person before heading to Nigeria. Further checks revealed that an accomplice who turned out to be a former professional footballer, Segun George Hunkarin, was waiting for Chinedu at the airport carpark to collect the consignment from him. Hunkarin who had stayed years in Brazil playing for football clubs was promptly tracked and arrested at the carpark.’

In his statement, Hunkarin claimed that while playing professional football in the South American country, he had only trafficked drugs twice from Brazil to Ethiopia.’’

Both Chinedu and Hunkarin were subsequently arraigned on a three-count charge marked FHC/L/669C/2025 for unlawful importation of 800grams of cocaine. Delivering judgment on Friday 24th July, Justice Kakaki sentenced them to a combined 24 years’ jail term without an option of fine.

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has arrested two suspected counterfeiters following the discovery and dismantling of two illegal alcoholic beverage production operations in the Mushin area in Lagos State

The suspects, identified as Uchenna Ekezie and Peter Okparalgbo, were apprehended during separate enforcement operations conducted by the Agency’s Investigation and Enforcement Directorate.

Confirming their arrest to newsmen on Monday, July 20, the Director of Investigation and Enforcement at NAFDAC, Dr. Martins Iluyomade, said large quantities of suspected counterfeit alcoholic beverages, including premium local and international brands, were recovered from shops, storage facilities and an illegal production site.

Some of the products seized included Hennessy, William Lawson’s, Don Julio, Martell, Rémy Martin, Flirt Vodka, Lords Gin, Imperial Blue, Gordon’s, Jack Daniel’s, Best Whisky, Eagle Gin, Aman Tequila, The Macallan Scotch Whisky, Casmero Whisky, 501 and Glenfiddich Single Malt Scotch Whisky.

Also confiscated were bottles, labels, packaging materials and other equipment used in the illicit production of the fake alcoholic beverages.

According to Iluyomade, the suspects admitted during interrogation to producing the counterfeit alcoholic beverages, adding that all recovered products and production materials had been secured as exhibits while further investigations continue ahead of prosecution.

In another enforcement operation, the Agency uncovered more than 450 cartons of expired salad cream stored at two locations within Oke Arin Market in Lagos.

The expired products, some of which had expired since 2024, were immediately evacuated to prevent them from being sold to unsuspecting consumers.

The Agency also invited the owner of the products for questioning, while several other shops found stocking unregistered and banned products or operating under poor storage conditions were sealed pending further investigations.

The FCT Police Command has arrested four (4) suspects who specialize in robbing commercial drivers, particularly Bolt and Uber drivers of their vehicles.

Confirming the arrest to newsmen, SP Josephine Adeh, spokesperson of the command, said on 7th July, 2026, following credible intelligence, operatives of the FCT Police Command Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) trailed and arrested four (4) suspects identified as Ibrahim Ismail, Ahmad Umar, Riskwa Shehu and Umar Abubakar.

Adeh mentioned that preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects operate by posing as regular passengers, booking commercial vehicles through e-ride hailing platforms before attacking the drivers, dispossessing them of their vehicles and other valuables.

She said the suspects were arrested with two vehicles; an ash-colored Toyota Rav 4 vehicle with registration number YAB 240 DL and a grey colored Honda Civic Vehicle, with Registration Number ABC 72 JP.

Adeh disclosed that they will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.

An Accra Circuit Court has sentenced a Ghanaian TikToker Camilla Alhassan to one year in prison after she pleaded guilty to charges of publishing false news and engaging in offensive conduct.

Her prosecution followed the circulation of videos on social media in which she made defamatory claims that President John Dramani Mahama buried 32 cows as part of rituals to secure victory in the 2024 general election.

The videos prompted her arrest by the Ghana Police Service and subsequent prosecution.

During an earlier hearing, the court ordered that a pregnancy test be conducted before proceeding with the case.

Camilla Alhassan admitted to publishing videos in which she falsely alleged, without providing any evidence, that President Mahama buried 32 cows as part of rituals to win election.

Reacting to the judgment, her lawyer, Kwadwo Gyamfi Bonsu, explained that the court dismissed the charge of electronic abuse after ruling that it lacked the jurisdiction to determine that particular offence.

He said the court, however, found Camilla guilty of offensive conduct and sentenced her to one year in prison.

According to the defence lawyer, a plea was made for a more lenient sentence, but the court held that the increasing incidence of similar offences warranted a custodial punishment to serve as a deterrent to others.

Minister of Works David Umahi has disclosed that Mary Habila, the nurse who died at his residence in Ebonyi State, complained of a nosebleed during a phone conversation with her boyfriend shortly before her *****.

Umahi made the disclosure on Thursday, July 16, during a press conference in Abuja convened to provide updates on road projects recently approved by President Bola Tinubu.

The minister described the deceased as "like a daughter," saying she had worked with him for three years and was a staff member of the David Umahi Federal University Teaching Hospital. "There is one piece of information I want to correct. It is that the lady in question was like a daughter to me," he said.

"She had stayed with me for three years. She was a staff member of the Federal Medical University. She was a nurse and not a physiotherapist. And her family and my family are like one family. She has her medical records in Turkish Hospital, being paid by us."

Umahi also said he had previously sponsored Habila's medical treatment at a Turkish hospital. Providing his account of the events preceding her *****, the minister said Habila informed her boyfriend during a phone call that she was bleeding from the nose.

"She spoke to her boyfriend at the hour of her ***** and complained that she was bleeding from the nose," he said. "The boyfriend said, 'No, you have to report it.' She said it had stopped. The boyfriend said, 'Listen, I will not continue this conversation since you are bleeding. It will increase the bleeding.'

"She told the boyfriend, 'Don't cut the call.' The boyfriend cut the call. Three minutes later, the boyfriend called again. She was not responding. Even in the boy she told her boyfriend that she was going to bath because she locked. When they broke the door in the morning, the tap was still running."

Emotions ran high this evening as parents of the pupils abducted from three schools in the Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State have finally reunited with their wards.

The pupils who were abducted alongside their teachers on May 15, regained their freedom last Friday, July 10, after 56 days in captivity.

The Lagos State government today arrested a woman identified as Mrs. McCarthy, of No. 56 Adaranijo Street, Pedro, Shomolu, who allegedly encouraged her child to dispose of refuse into a covered drainage channel.

Confirming her arrest to newsmen, the state Commissioner of Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, said the Ministry received a report of the incident and immediately drafted its enforcement officers to the area and arrested the woman for violating the State’s environmental laws.

‘’We expect every resident to act responsibly and to educate their children on the importance of protecting public infrastructure, particularly drainage systems. Encouraging acts that contribute to blocked drains and environmental degradation is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.
