Nigerian writer and social commentator Solomon Buchi has shared his thoughts on the marriage of Nigerian TikTok stars Peller and Jarvis, urging the young couple to take the institution of marriage seriously.

Buchi said while he supports young people getting married early, he believes such marriages should come with maturity, openness to mentorship and an understanding of the responsibility that comes with building a family.

According to him, marriage is “more than streaming, fooling around on social media” and cameras, adding that couples should seek proper counselling and resolve any resentment before getting married.

He also advised people not to marry someone based on the hope that they will eventually change, saying couples should accept each other for who they are at the time of marriage.

Buchi wished Peller and Jarvis well but urged them to seek good counsel as they begin their journey together.

President Tinubu has appealed to Nigerian medical professionals practising outside the country to return home and contribute their quota to national development.

The President made the appeal at the State House on Friday, July when he received members of the Nigerian Diaspora Medical Associations.

The Director-General of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, led the health workers to the meeting with President Tinubu.

The President told the team they should take a cue from his personal experience after deciding to return to Nigeria following his studies and work in the United States.

“I’ve been through that journey. I’m home, and I can tell you, there’s nowhere like home. I’ve experienced being in America. I’ve taken the best of America in my chosen profession, accountancy and finance.

I can’t forget the Standard Oil Building in Chicago and my first week there. But since I came back from Mobil to now, it has been a very good challenge to commit and endure the possibility of turning Nigeria around.

So many of you have seen the hazards of the other side of the world. You’ve experienced the tribulation and challenges, and you’ve come back home to feel it and seal it.”

Tinubu further advised the medical professionals to convince their colleagues to return home, assuring them that his administration would continue to create an enabling environment for them to practise and thrive.

“My friends who are still there, try to attract them home. But the best way to demonstrate to you is for me to commit myself to my agenda, the Renewed Hope, so that the hope of Nigerians of having a better environment, better education, better development and prosperity can be realised.

Your children will see the foundation of this country as belonging to them, and the future belonging to them is what we are working hard for. Your coming to help is immeasurable.”

A 64-year-old Nigerian man who recently graduated as a nurse in the United Kingdom says he hopes his journey shows you are never too old to get a degree.

John Adesoye, who grew up in Nigeria, worked as an electronics technician in Greece before moving to the UK in 2013 and deciding on a career change.

The father-of-five has now secured a nursing role at Southmead Hospital in Bristol, where he started working as a healthcare assistant in 2014

“If I can do it, others can too. People are more brilliant and stronger than they think,” he said.

Adesoye said his career change to healthcare was motivated by a desire to care for people.

“When I was caring for electronic devices, I was happy when I could get broken devices working again.

“In my work in healthcare, when patients get better it gives me great joy and satisfaction,” he said.

The graduate worked across various hospital departments including cardiology, A&E and intensive care during his degree apprenticeship at the University of the West England.

And he said he planned to take on a masters-level qualification if the opportunity arose.

“The moment you start in higher education, you’ll see that the door will continue to open for you,” he said.

“It’s never too late,” Adesoye added.

Adesoye spent one day a week learning at Glenside campus in Fishponds and the remainder of his week in his role at Southmead Hospital.

Jacqui Caskey and Caroline Bromwich, who co-lead the registered nurse degree apprenticeship he took, praised his dedication.

“Being a nurse apprentice is no mean feat”, they said.

“They juggle this with busy lives, along with family and caring commitments.”

Reality TV star Whitemoney has sparked conversations online after sharing his thoughts on Nigeria's current state.

In a video, the former BBNaija winner wondered whether the country would ever improve, questioning if there is still hope for the average Nigerian.

Whitemoney also lamented the level of corruption in the country, saying it cuts across every level of society, from those in positions of power to ordinary citizens.

He ended by asking whether Nigeria is still worth fighting for.

Reality TV star and singer Whitemoney has sent an encouraging message to skitmaker and streamer Carter Efe following reports that his US visa application was denied.

In a video shared online, Whitemoney said he understands the pain of rejection, recalling how he was turned down three times before eventually making it into the Big Brother Naija house on his fourth attempt.

He urged Carter Efe not to let the setback define him, describing him as one of Africa's biggest streamers who has already achieved what many in the industry are yet to accomplish.

The Anambra State Police Command today July 13 arraigned one Ejike Ofoegbu, the alleged owner and publisher of Igbo Times Magazine and iNews, before a competent court over allegations bordering on the publication of fabricated, untrue, and defamatory reports against the family of the Governor of Anambra State.

The arraignment followed the Command’s receipt of the suspect from the Department of State Services Awka, and the conclusion of Police investigations into a petition alleging the publication of false information capable of causing reputational harm and inciting public disaffection.

* “Breaking News: ‘They should organize a drinking competition between my father and Wike. I just want to see something. I’m willing to bet my life that my father would win. People don’t understand his drinking capacity.’ — Ozo.”

Ejike has since retracted his statements and sent a public apology to the governor.

According to the spokesperson of the state police command, Tochukwu Ikenga, the suspect has been remanded in a correctional centre in the State.

A Canada-based Nigerian woman has opened up about why she abandoned plans to relocate permanently to Nigeria, saying she quietly returned to Canada after just three months.

Speaking in a video making the rounds online, she revealed that even her family did not know she had left Nigeria until she arrived in Toronto in the middle of the night.

According to her, although she loves Nigeria and hopes to one day contribute to the country's development, especially in the electricity sector, she realised she could not cope with the realities on ground and decided it was better to watch from a distance.

She said one thing that surprised her was how easily many Nigerians adapt to difficult living conditions, adding that she "knew there was fire on the mountain" and decided to leave while she still could.

The woman also disclosed that before relocating, she encouraged several qualified colleagues to apply for Canadian permanent residency, but none of them took the opportunity. She noted that years later, many of those same people are now asking her how to relocate abroad, saying people often fail to recognise warning signs until it is too late.

Terrorists have k!lled a Catholic catechist who was abducted alongside five other captives during an attack on Kutaho and Kugir communities in Aribi Ward, Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

LIB reported that 32 victims, including a bride-to-be, Peace Lami Williams, were kidnapped on February 9, 2026 when heavily armed bandits invaded the two communities in a midnight raid, firing sporadically before forcing villagers from their homes and marching them into the forest.

It was gathered that the victims were k!lled despite months of ransom negotiations and payments by members of the affected communities.

A church source, who requested anonymity because of the sensitivity of the matter, confirmed the latest development to journalists on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, the Guardian reported.

The source disclosed that the communities had made frantic efforts to secure the freedom of the abductees through ransom payments and contributions from residents, many of whom reportedly sold personal belongings and farm produce in the hope of bringing their loved ones home alive.

The community sources identified those killed as Friday Agama, Kunama Dogo, Monday Tanko, Peace Lami Williams, a man identified simply as Pawpaw’s brother, and the Catholic catechist, who was reportedly subjected to severe torture before he d!ed in captivity.

According to community sources, the kidnappers initially demanded N30 million and four motorcycles for the release of the captives.

Despite months of negotiations and financial contributions by residents, the bandits later insisted on an additional N15 million before releasing the remaining victims.

“The community has been raising the money by itself. People contributed whatever they could and even sold valuables, hoping everyone would return alive,” one of the sources said.

The source lamented that despite the sacrifices made by residents, six of the captives were eventually k!lled.
