    THE SECRET OF LIFE

Life is a secret of suffering, of struggling, of sorrow, of selfishness and pain. Life is also a secret of goodness, of kindness, of forgiveness, of selflessness and love.

The secret of goodness can be used to pay for the secret of suffering. The secret of kindness can be used to pay for the secret of ceaseless struggles. The secret of selflessness can be used to pay for the secret of selfishness.

The secret of forgiveness can be used to pay for the secret of sorrow. The secret of love can be used to pay for the secret of pain.

The secret of suffering, struggling, sorrow, selfishness and pain are inevitable and ineluctable - they are far beyond our human capacity or control, and also far beyond our human comprehension.

But the secret of goodness, of kindness, of forgiveness, of selflessness and of love are absolutely under our control. We can use each as a legal tender for the exchange of our suffering, struggling, sorrow, selfishness and pain.

Only those who have mastered the secret of goodness, of kindness, of forgiveness, of selflessness and love can be able to pay, unravel, demystify and overcome the secret of the suffering, the struggling, the sorrow, the selfishness and the pain in their lives.

Kindness may not save you from suffering, but it gives you the strength to bear it with courage till the very end.

Forgiveness may not literally erase the offence, but it would free your soul from self imposed captivity. Forgiveness frees your soul from sorrow.

Selflessness may not eradicate selfishness from your life, but it helps to tame and curtail it to an imperceptible level, and exhibits the humanity in you.

Love can never prevent you from experiencing pain, but it empowers, energizes and endows you with the capacity to endure your prison of pain.

Love is not a salvation for escaping pain, but love is a succor that teaches you how to brook your pain without shouting, grumbling and complaining.

Pure Love is an anesthesia to pain. Those who truly have it are always happy, joyful and peaceful even in the middle of suffering, sorrow and pain.

    Good morning.

    The Gardener Who Grew Wishes

Every seed Perpetua planted grew true to its name not simply flowers or vegetables, but whatever the seed itself was labeled, no matter how impossible. Her grandmother's garden held rows of "Courage," "Second Chances," and "Forgiveness," each blooming into strange, luminous flowers that granted exactly what their name promised to whoever picked them at the right moment.

She'd inherited the garden three months ago, along with her grandmother's warning: never plant a wish you're not prepared to grow completely.

Tonight, grieving a love she'd let slip away through cowardice two years earlier, Perpetua knelt in the moonlit soil and planted a seed she'd found tucked in the back of her grandmother's shed, labeled simply: Second Meeting.

She watered it carefully, uncertain what exactly she was hoping for, and went to bed troubled by the enormity of what she'd just risked.

The following morning, a single silver flower had bloomed overnight impossibly fast, even by the garden's strange standards its petals shimmering faintly like captured starlight. As she reached to pick it, a voice spoke from the garden gate.

"I had the strangest dream last night," the voice said, achingly familiar despite two years of silence between them. "I dreamed I was walking toward your grandmother's garden, and I couldn't stop myself, even though I knew I probably shouldn't."

Perpetua turned, breath catching, to find Dorian standing at the gate the man she'd loved fiercely, then let go of out of fear, exactly as she'd feared she might never see again.

"Dorian," she breathed, hand still hovering over the silver flower. "What are you doing here?"

"I don't entirely know," he admitted, stepping closer with visible uncertainty. "I woke up compelled to walk here, Perpetua. I haven't been back to this town in two years. I told myself I was over it over you and yet here I am, standing at your grandmother's gate like some kind of magnetic pull brought me here against my own better judgment."

Perpetua looked down at the flower, silver petals still shimmering with impossible, deliberate magic. "I think," she said slowly, "the garden might have had something to do with that."

Woman set on fire by her husband in Kogi pleads for his forgiveness

Mrs Berida Irawo, who was set on fire by her husband, Jacob Irawo, in Kogi State, has pleaded for his forgiveness following the horrific domestic attack.

LIB reported that the Kogi State Police Command arrested the suspect Jacob Irewa for alleged attempted culpable homicide.

The incident occurred at Oworo Estate, Felele, Lokoja on Friday, August 14, 2026.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the incident followed a domestic disagreement after the victim burnt some of the suspect’s clothes which she believed he was no longer using, without his permission.

The suspect subsequently threatened her, fetched petrol from his motorcycle and proceeded to set her ablaze.

A pastor, John Esiga Abu, confirmed her plea for the suspect’s forgiveness after he visited her in the hospital on Tuesday, August 18, 2026.

Abu also clarified that suspect is not a pastor, adding that he is a teacher.

Actress Rita Edochie expresses outrage over wedding MC asking bride to vow never to cheat on her husband while the husband was given freedom to cheat

The MC told the bride Mirabel that even if her husband travels for a long period, she must vow not to meet another man. He then said a prayer warning of what would happen to her if she cheats.

However, the MC said if the husband, Thomas, cheats, "may God forgive him".

Reacting, Rita Edochie wrote: 'I AM VERY ANGRY THIS MORNING AND I PRAY THIS IS JUST JOKE AND A CONTENT......

'LOOK IF MEN CAN BE EXCUSED BECAUSE THEY ARE "POLYGAMOUS BY NATURE ," THEN WOMEN DESERVE THE SAME GRACE , THE SAME MERCY , AND THE SAME FORGIVENESS

'ENOUGH OF THIS GENDER INEQUALITY !!

FOR TOO LONG , SOCIETY HAS PREACHED ONE GOSPEL FOR MEN AND ANOTHER FOR WOMEN .

'WHEN A MAN IS UNFAITHFUL , MANY ARE QUICK TO CALL IT "HIS NATURE" OR A MOMENT OF WEAKNESS , BUT WHEN A WOMAN COMMITS THE SAME OFFENCE , SHE IS BRANDED , CONDEMNED , AND OFTEN TOLD SHE NO LONGER DESERVES HER HOME

'HOW CAN THE SAME ACT PRODUCE TWO DIFFERENT VERDICTS ? HOW CAN ONE PERSON BE OFFERED RESTORATION WHILE THE OTHER IS SHOWN THE DOOR ?

IF THE VOWS WERE EXCHANGED EQUALLY , THEN THE STANDARDS SHOULD ALSO BE APPLIED EQUALLY.

'IF INFIDELITY IS A SIN , THEN IT IS A SIN FOR BOTH . IF FORGIVENESS EXISTS , THEN IT SHOULD NOT BE RESERVED FOR ONE GENDER. JUSTICE THAT FAVOURS MEN WHILE CRUSHING WOMEN IS NOT JUSTICE , IT IS WITCHCRAFT .

'A MARRIAGE CANNOT BE BUILT ON A SYSTEM WHERE THE MAN IS EXPECTED TO BE UNDERSTOOD , WHILE THE WOMAN IS EXPECTED TO BE PERFECT . THAT IS NOT FAIRNESS ; IT IS PARTIALITY.

'THE RULES OF MARRIAGE SHOULD NOT CHANGE BASED ON WHETHER THE OFFENDER IS WEARING TROUSERS OR A SKIRT. ACCOUNTABILITY MUST BE EQUAL . MERCY MUST BE EQUAL . DIGNITY MUST BE EQUAL .

'UNTIL WE STOP MEASURING MEN AND WOMEN WITH DIFFERENT SCALES , WE CANNOT HONESTLY CLAIM TO BE DEFENDING THE SANCTITY , OF MARRIAGE . A PRINCIPLE IS ONLY A PRINCIPLE WHEN IT APPLIES TO EVERYONE .'

When the power of love beats the love of power, the world knows peace.

    Yes. That line hits deep.

Because the love of power divides. It builds walls, keeps score, asks “what can I take?”

But the power of love… it builds bridges. It asks “how can I hold you?”

We’ve seen what happens when people chase power. Wars, ego, noise.

But we’ve also seen what happens when people choose love. Healing, forgiveness, quiet revolutions that change everything without a single headline.

Maybe peace isn’t some big treaty signed far away.

Maybe it starts here — when we choose understanding over winning, compassion over control, people over pride.

One heart at a time. One choice at a time.

    The Last Letter

When the old postman knocked on Clara's door, she almost didn't answer.

    No one wrote letters anymore.

With trembling hands, she accepted the faded envelope. Her name was written in familiar handwriting—the kind she hadn't seen in twelve years.

    It was from her father.

The same father who had walked away when she was ten. The same man she had spent years pretending she no longer needed.

Her fingers shook as she unfolded the paper.

    "My dearest Clara,"

"If this letter has reached you, it means I never found the courage to say these words in person."

Tears blurred the ink before she could continue.

He wrote about every birthday he had secretly remembered, every school graduation he had watched from a distance, every Christmas he spent holding the tiny photograph of her that never left his wallet.

He confessed that shame had chained him. Every year he wanted to return, but the longer he stayed away, the more impossible it felt.

"I thought you deserved a father without broken promises. Instead, I became the man who broke the biggest promise of all."

Clara pressed the letter against her chest and cried for the little girl who had spent years waiting by the window.

At the bottom of the page was one final sentence.

"If you can find it in your heart to forgive me, visit the old oak tree where we used to read stories together."

    She didn't hesitate.

The next morning, she drove to the small hill overlooking the town. The oak tree was still there, older and stronger than she remembered.

Beneath it sat a simple wooden bench.

    But her father wasn't there.

Instead, an elderly woman approached quietly.

"You must be Clara," she said gently.

    Clara nodded.

"I'm your father's nurse. He passed away three weeks ago."

The words stole the air from her lungs.

"He asked me to mail the letter only after he was gone," the woman whispered. "He said he wasn't asking for another chance. He only wanted you to know that not a single day passed without loving you."

Clara sank onto the bench, clutching the letter as tears rolled freely down her face.

The wind rustled through the branches above, carrying memories of bedtime stories, laughter, and a childhood that had ended too soon.

For years, she had believed she carried the weight of being forgotten.

Now she realized something even heavier had existed all along—a father carrying the burden of regret.

She looked toward the sky and smiled through her tears.

    "I forgive you, Dad."

The breeze wrapped around her like an embrace she had waited a lifetime to feel.

Sometimes love arrives too late to change the past.

But it can still heal the heart that's been carrying yesterday's pain.

And sometimes... the last letter becomes the first page of forgiveness.

    Broken Trust Leaves a Mark.

Even when forgiveness happens, broken trust leaves a scar. The relationship may heal, but it's never quite the same there's a quiet caution that wasn't there before, a small voice that remembers.

That's why trust should never be treated carelessly. Every lie, every broken promise, every hidden truth chips away at something that took time to build. And rebuilding it? That takes far longer than breaking it ever did.

If you have someone's trust, protect it like it's irreplaceable because it is. ๐Ÿ”‘๐Ÿ’”
