The Federal Government has declared Thursday, October 1st, as public holiday to mark the nation’s 66th Independence Anniversary Celebration.

The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government, congratulates all Nigerians at home and abroad on this year’s celebration of the 66th Independence anniversary of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo stated that our warmth, welcoming spirit and love as well as the abundant wealth inherent in our human capital and the richness of our land, makes Nigeria unarguably the most prosperous black nation in the world.

According to the Minister, the peace and stability are necessary conditions for the development of any nation. He therefore, called on Nigerians to emulate the nation’s founding fathers in their love for fatherland and build a Nigeria of our dreams that our children will be proud of, that a new Nigeria is achievable.

“As we celebrate 66th years of our independence, we should always remember that there is hope for our country and our diversity is our strength, and our collective determination remains the foundation upon which a stronger and more prosperous nation will be built”, he said

President Tinubu has dismissed reports that claimed he was ill and undergoing treatment in France.

Speaking to newsmen after he arrived in Nigeria from France this evening, President Tinubu said he is “healthy, sound, and ready to go”.

When asked about concerns raised by some Nigerians and his supporters towards the end of his vacation about his health, the President said there was nothing wrong with him.

“Ready to kick, ready to walk. There’s nothing wrong. Rumour will always be emanating from politics, but the facts remain I’m here. Healthy, sound, and ready to go,” the President said

President Bola Tinubu has returned to Nigeria after a four-week European vacation.

The President arrived in Lagos from Paris aboard Nigerian Air Force One, with the aircraft taxiing into the presidential wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport at about 6:22pm this evening.

Journalists at the airport were barred from taking visuals of the President’s arrival, with media coverage restricted as the presidential aircraft made its way to the terminal.

President Tinubu departed Nigeria on August 30 for London before proceeding to Paris, where he held engagements with French President Emmanuel Macron, including a dinner.

Nigerian singer Candy Bleakz has spoken about her sexuality, revealing that she identifies as demisexual.

In a video shared online, the singer said she often receives questions about her sexuality and that people are usually intrigued when she tells them she is demisexual.

“I also get a lot of questions around my sexuality and when I tell them I am demisexual, they are also intrigued. I don't know why, can't I be demisexual?” she said.

U.S.-based Nigerian-American nurse and influencer Bukola Akinpelu, popularly known as Nurse Sugar, has reacted to a video shared by her ex-husband’s camp showing a past incident between them.

In an emotional video, Nurse Sugar said the past few days had been difficult as she prepares to release a book detailing her experiences.

“Some of you are seeing a clip today, I lived that moment years ago,” she said, explaining that the video represented only a small part of the story she had written about.

She said one of her biggest fears about writing the book was becoming a subject of public discussion before people had heard the full story.

According to her, she had decided to tell the truth in the book, even if some parts could be interpreted as an attempt to defend herself.

Nurse Sugar then read an account from the book describing an incident involving her ex-husband and a mattress in an apartment she said she was paying for.

She recounted confronting him and telling him to leave the room after an argument, before describing how she filled a bucket with water and poured it on the other side of the mattress while he was lying on one side.

“This is my truth,” she said, adding that she deliberately made herself vulnerable by sharing her experiences because she wanted readers to understand her beyond the clips being circulated online.

Nurse Sugar thanked those who had reached out to support her and said she was still processing everything, adding that she would eventually return to the version of herself her followers knew.

The Attorney General of Anambra State, Tobechukwu Nweke SAN has initiated steps for the prosecution of those denying females the right of inheritance in the state and has requested the Nigerian Police to investigate such complaints and transmit the case file to his office for prosecution.

This was disclosed in a letter written to the Nigerian Police and personally signed by the Attorney General which was made available to news men on Monday, 26th September 2026.

The letter noted that the obnoxious practices of denying women and girls of their right to inherit property because they are females amount to a crime under Section 22 of the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Law, 2017 of Anambra State and punishable with up to four (4) years imprisonment.

The concluding part of letter reads as follows:

“In light of the foregoing, you are kindly requested to ensure that your office thoroughly investigates all reported cases of gender-based disinheritance and that the case files are transmitted to this Ministry for further action.

“To effectively combat this practice, this Ministry has designated the S3xual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) Unit to handle the prosecution of offenders under the above mentioned law, alongside other forms of domestic violence and s3xual offences.”

Despite the decisions of the Supreme Court declaring as unconstitutional and illegal, customs and practices which exclude females from inheriting property, some members of the public still indulge in these discriminatory practices.

A Nigerian lady has called out Nigerian singer Reekado Banks’ management over an alleged unpaid compensation after she danced with the singer on stage.

In a video shared online, the lady said she had a good time dancing with Reekado Banks during the performance and was about to leave the stage when a member of his management approached her.

According to her, the manager told her that there was a compensation for her, even though she had not requested or asked to be paid for appearing on stage.

She said the manager exchanged contact details with her and she later sent him a message introducing herself. However, she said she did not send another message after that.

The lady said another member of Reekado’s team contacted her days later and asked whether she had received her compensation.

She then reached out to the first manager to confirm whether the person who contacted her was part of the singer’s management. According to her, the manager asked her to send a screenshot of the conversation.

She said the manager once again left her message on read without a reply and that she followed up with him again days later, but there was still no resolution regarding the promised compensation.

The lady said the situation had left a bad impression on her, stressing that she would not have expected any payment if it had not been offered to her in the first place.

She added that once someone promises compensation, especially when the person did not ask for it, it would be appropriate for the management to follow through and communicate properly.

A Nigerian woman has tearfully cursed a group of @rm£d r0bb£rs who allegedly inv@ded her parents’ home, st0le valuables and money, and r@p£d a 17-year-old girl who was helping her mother.

In an emotional video, the woman said the incident occurred at her parents’ home on Palace Road, where she alleged that three or four men inv@ded the house and st0le her mother’s properties and money.

She also alleged that the men collected ₦280,000 from the Point-of-Sale (POS) business of her late brother’s widow before allegedly @ss@ulting her.

According to her, the men also r@p£d a 17-year-old girl who had been helping her mother. She claimed the girl had recently finished secondary school and was still bl££ding following the alleged incident.

The woman alleged that the men spent about four hours in the house, arriving around 2am and leaving around 6am. She also claimed that they attempted to r@p her late brother’s widow and thr£atened members of her family.

She said the incident had left her mother, her late brother’s widow and the children tr@umatised, adding that her mother had already endured significant hardship following the l0ss of a child to B0k0 H@r@m.

The woman repeatedly cürṣ£d the alleged att@ckers and called on them to return the st0len belongings and apologise to the family. She also warned them against approaching her or her family.

A Nigerian lady based in the UK has shared an emotional video claiming she was fired from her job after creating content about a colleague who had been laid off.

In the video, the woman was seen crying as she explained that she was told to go home after arriving at work.

According to her, her manager told her that the video she made about her colleague losing his job had been sent to the company by the colleague.

She claimed the colleague said the video caused him mental distress, prompting the company to terminate her employment.

The woman said she only made the video to create awareness about what had happened and claimed she had received permission from her workplace before sharing it.

She also denied suggestions that she made the video for financial gain on social media, saying she had never earned money from her social media content.
