I found it difficult to wish my fellow Nigerians happy independence.

Because we are not really independent! Oh you ask why?

Until we build the best hospitals we travel abroad for in this country, we are not independent.

Until we become a producing, or a manufacturing country, we are not independent.

Until we reduce importation of generators and Solar devices and stabilize electricity, we are not independent.

Until we stop taking loans from foreign countries here and there like a hopeless and confused fellow, we are not independent. With these few points of mine, I hope I have been able to convince you, not to confuse you that Mr Dickson should be called in full๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜ƒ if you call am halfway na something else ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿคฃ you gerit?๐Ÿ˜ƒ if you don't gerit, forgerit.

    Happy independence day everyone

You asked what a better Nigeria looks like right?

Well, a better Nigeria is one were the suffering isn't too much. Inflation and prices of things don't skyrocket overnight

A country where leaders are not corrupt and don't care about the well fare of it's citizens

A country where the natural resources are produced and put to good use instead of being stolen and sold to foreign countries by the leaders

A country that is developed with infrastructure and technology like foreign countries. Maybe not exactly, but to a certain standard. Example stable electricity, good roads, better job opportunities

A country with tight security. Not one where terrorists go on a rampage and human life is not really valued

A country where the standard of living is okay and everyone is not in such a hurry to Japan to foreign countries for greener pastures

A country where when they tell the present generation how good life was several years ago, it doesn't sound like a myth or a story.

A country where we have sane leaders. A country where election was fair and not manipulated

A country where citizens would not be scared of their future and where they are heading to as country

So yeah, that's my idea of a better Nigeria

Nigeria was like cancer patient in 2023, My reforms didn’t weaken the economy- President Tinubu

President Tinubu has likened the state of Nigeria in 2023 to a cancer patient facing difficult but life-saving treatment.

While delivering his speech to mark Nigeria’s 66th Independence Day today October 1, the president said

‘’For too long, the promise of Nigeria was undermined by choices that postponed difficult decisions and allowed deep economic distortions to grow.

By 2023, poverty was rising, and hope was nearly gone. The country’s situation was darker than ever. We had no choice but to act.

Nigeria was like a sick patient who receives the terrible news that he has cancer. His doctor explains that the treatment will be difficult and painful, but that it offers a strong prospect of recovery. The patient has a choice. He can begin treatment, endure its discomfort and fight the disease. Or he can ask only for morphine, dull the pain and leave the cancer to spread.

For too long, Nigeria’s leaders chose morphine while praying for a miracle that never came.

They focused on symptoms while allowing the disease to take hold deep within the fabric of our society. We spent enormous sums sustaining inefficient arrangements that were never intended to last. We hid from difficult truths and passed the consequences from one generation to the next.

When this Administration assumed office, we resolved to do things differently. We chose to excise the cancer. The reforms that followed were difficult. The side effects were real. Yet, we must never confuse the medicine with the disease.

Our reforms did not create the weaknesses in our economy. They confronted them. Now, as certain influential but regressive voices would have us abandon the treatment and return ourselves to the abuse of addictive subsidies, we must resist their siren song. We must remember why we began this journey and how far we have already come.

Independence: FG declares Thursday Oct 1 public holiday

The Federal Government has declared Thursday, October 1st, as public holiday to mark the nation’s 66th Independence Anniversary Celebration.

The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government, congratulates all Nigerians at home and abroad on this year’s celebration of the 66th Independence anniversary of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo stated that our warmth, welcoming spirit and love as well as the abundant wealth inherent in our human capital and the richness of our land, makes Nigeria unarguably the most prosperous black nation in the world.

According to the Minister, the peace and stability are necessary conditions for the development of any nation. He therefore, called on Nigerians to emulate the nation’s founding fathers in their love for fatherland and build a Nigeria of our dreams that our children will be proud of, that a new Nigeria is achievable.

“As we celebrate 66th years of our independence, we should always remember that there is hope for our country and our diversity is our strength, and our collective determination remains the foundation upon which a stronger and more prosperous nation will be built”, he said

“Some of you are seeing a clip today, I lived that moment years ago” — Nurse Sugar reacts to video shared by ex-husband’s camp hitting him and wetting his bed

U.S.-based Nigerian-American nurse and influencer Bukola Akinpelu, popularly known as Nurse Sugar, has reacted to a video shared by her ex-husband’s camp showing a past incident between them.

In an emotional video, Nurse Sugar said the past few days had been difficult as she prepares to release a book detailing her experiences.

“Some of you are seeing a clip today, I lived that moment years ago,” she said, explaining that the video represented only a small part of the story she had written about.

She said one of her biggest fears about writing the book was becoming a subject of public discussion before people had heard the full story.

According to her, she had decided to tell the truth in the book, even if some parts could be interpreted as an attempt to defend herself.

Nurse Sugar then read an account from the book describing an incident involving her ex-husband and a mattress in an apartment she said she was paying for.

She recounted confronting him and telling him to leave the room after an argument, before describing how she filled a bucket with water and poured it on the other side of the mattress while he was lying on one side.

“This is my truth,” she said, adding that she deliberately made herself vulnerable by sharing her experiences because she wanted readers to understand her beyond the clips being circulated online.

Nurse Sugar thanked those who had reached out to support her and said she was still processing everything, adding that she would eventually return to the version of herself her followers knew.
